The Mystery of Forgiveness
May 16-18, 2008
Judith Peterson, M.A., and Timothy Locke, Ph.D.
Forgiveness can be difficult, and sometimes feels impossible. Yet it is at the heart of many spiritual paths. Clearly it is prominent in the recorded deeds and sayings of Jesus. Why might this be so?
We will reflect on forgiveness in our own lives, where it may be fruitful, the cost and the promise of forgiveness and of its absence. We will explore who forgives and the roles of the human and the divine.
While the seminar is an opportunity for experiential work with forgiveness, the process will respect the confidentiality of each participant and will not require divulging details of hurts given or received. We will explore the path of forgiveness and the potential it may hold for our own transformation.
Fee for the weekend of $265 includes lodging and meals. Discount of $15 for registrations received by April 18, 2008

The Way of Jesus: An Introduction
August 4-8, 2008
Timothy Locke, Ph.D.
"Jesus" is a name associated with a confusing array of images and movements, some characterized by rigidity and domination as well as compassion and liberation.
Like the reported conversation with a Samaritan woman at a well, encounter with Jesus is often deflected into discussion about his identity. We rarely get to the conversation Jesus seems to have wanted to initiate about a source of life in each of us.
Many sayings attributed to Jesus are enigmatic or paradoxical, perhaps purposefully so. Yet there is coherence and a recurring theme of the present possibility of entry into a way of life nourished by a deep, creative mystery.
For five days we will engage Jesus as teacher, sifting the gospel accounts of his activities for clues about his message and way of life that may be hidden from us by centuries of commentary as well as a sense that we already know what is there to be found.
We will bring a variety of tools to our inquiry, including exploration of our own experience to see for ourselves what resonances may occur and whether these have value for us in the daily choices we make about how to live our lives.
Fee for the seminar of $495 includes lodging and meals.
Discount of $25 for registrations received by July 11, 2008

Power of Positive Thinking
Weekend Retreat
June 20-22, Friday 6:00 pm to Sunday 4:00 pm
"Thoughts and emotions play a very crucial role in affecting how we perform at home, at work, and in all aspects of our daily lives."
The energy of the human mind is thought. Thought is said to be one of the greatest, but least understood, energy resources of the universe. When we learn to understand and harness the energy of the mind, we are able to master our lives and produce those thoughts that give the most happiness and fulfillment. The mind has the power to create whatever it focuses on. Even if you think you are already fairly positive in life, you can benefit tremendously by looking at how much we do to ourselves unconsciously. Life will never be without its challenges. Knowing how to create a positive attitude can change a problem into an opportunity, making life seem less perilous and more enjoyable.
Through discussion, meditation and reflection, creative activity and exercises, this weekend retreat will take you on a journey to explore the power and influence of thought and the impact of positive attitudes. It will also look at the underlying spiritual principles that help maintain positivity in your daily life.
Elizabeth Padilla has been teaching meditation for 23 years. For the past 16 years she has facilitated many seminars and workshops, such as Self Managing Leadership, Circle of Wise Women, Stress Management, and value based programs. Elizabeth is a very talented singer and a theater artist, having performed with Beach Blanket Babylon and the American Conservatory Theater. She is now fulfilling her life's dream by reaching the heart and spirit through her songs and work.
Dennis Hiebert has been a meditator for 34 years and has studied, practiced and taught Raja Yoga Meditation with the Brahma Kumaris for 22 years. Dennis has been interviewed on cable television in Los Angeles on the topic of the effects of our thoughts. He is the past President of the Activity Directors Organization of San Gabriel Valley and an active member of the Southern California Association of Activity Professionals.

A Dreamwork Intensive with Jeremy Taylor
May 2 - 4, 2008:
Begins Friday night with dinner Concludes Sunday after lunch
$290/$250 Commuter
The Language of Dreams
Our dreams speak a shared language of archetypal symbol and metaphor. These images and experiences connect us to each other, and to the world, in ever more profound and subtle ways. The health and wholeness out of which they spring, and back toward which they draw us, is not limited by the envelope of skin of the individual dreamer. We are all being invited to more conscious and celebratory relationship with less-conscious aspects of our own beings, and with the cosmos simultaneously.
Everyone is welcome - people just beginning to explore the fascinating world of myth and dream, as well as seasoned professionals. Only the dreamer can say with any certainty what meanings his or her dreams may hold. “If it were my dream” style group participatory dream work is one of the few activities that put beginners and experts on an equal emotional footing right from the outset.
Jeremy Taylor, an ordained Unitarian Universalist minister, has worked with dreams for over thirty years; he blends the values of spirituality with an active social conscience and a Jungian perspective. Founding member and past president of the Association for the Study of Dreams, he has written three books integrating dream symbolism, mythology, and archetypal energy.
Jeremy appears regularly on local, regional, and national radio and TV, and pioneered on-line dream work as host of AOL's innovative dream work show. He has taught in the schools and seminaries of the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA for 30 years and teaches at a wide variety of colleges and universities in the Bay Area and in South Korea.
