Peace, Love, and Healing
A Retreat Day with Dr. Bernie Siegel

When you begin to understand that what happens inside you also creates your external environment, you realize that your inner life of emotions and spirituality affects your health. Your beliefs become your biology. Bernie will share his experience and wisdom as a surgeon, healer, and pioneer in the field of mind-body medicine. He will explore the importance of finding a sacred center and cultivating a sense of peace, so that the difficulties you experience in life become labor pains from which you can be born again.
Dr. Bernie Siegel, who prefers to be called Bernie, was born in Brooklyn, NY. His books, Love, Medicine and Miracles (1986), Peace, Love and Healing (1989), and How to Live Between Office Visits (1993), have broken new ground in the field of healing. Bernie's efforts have now turned toward humanizing medical care and medical education. He continues to travel extensively with his wife, Bobbie, to speak and run workshops, and to share his techniques and experiences. Bernie and Bobbie have five children and six grandchildren (so far).

PYSANKY WORKSHOP (Egg Decorating)

Come learn the art of Psyanky, a Ukrainian handcraft with a history rich in symbolism and legend. In this tradition, the humble egg represents the sun, which brings forth new life. When ancient Christians came spreading their message to the pagans, they adapted the pagan belief of honoring the sun to a Christian message of honoring the "Son." Thus, the Easter holiday season-complete with eggs-replaced a springtime pagan ritual of sun-worship. Designs, too, have their own unique history: a bird signifies Spring; flowers, beauty; a circle represents eternity, a triangle the Holy Trinity. Even colors have their meaning, with yellow signifying spirituality, green the new growth of Spring, blue for health and white for purity. Red is reserved as the sun-color, depicting happiness, hope and passion. No artistic talent is required to create your own beautiful egg-just an enthusiasm for learning and spiritual awareness through art.
