Minsteracres is a retreat centre in beautiful Northumberland (although our postal address is in Co. Durham). We offer a wide variety of residential and day retreats including retreats for the major seasons of the Church year - Lent, Easter, Pentecost, Advent (we are closed at Christmas). Minsteracres is a Christian (Roman Catholic) retreat centre but welcomes people of all faiths as well as people of none. We also welcome guests who want a few days of quiet, relaxation, prayer, or rest. Many organisations come here to run their own retreats or other events. The centre is known for its homely atmosphere, warm hospitality and tranquillity.
Set in approximately 90 acres of lawns, parks and woodland, it is renowned for its avenue of sequoiadendron giganteum (Californian giant redwood trees). The wonderful arboretum (known as The Shrubbery) is currently being reclaimed by a team of volunteers. We are developing a 'green' agenda (we are composting, recycling and installing energy-saving bulbs as a start). We are interested in working with people of other faiths and cultures, and initiatives are already in hand or in development.

Description: Our aim is to create an experience of Being in the Present Moment throughout the retreat. Becoming familiar with the still and silent space in which or life unfolds, we can rediscover the Peace and Joy that so often elude us. During the retreat you will be introduced to the basics of Breathwork and Focusing. We use a pattern of sitting and walking meditation, and, although you are free to use your own meditation practice, we encourage you to use the methods that we teach.

Leader Credentials: Jenny Brooke is a registered rebirthing practitioner, who has worked with stress management and meditation, specialising in Breathwork, for many years. She is a Reiki Master and reflexologist with over 20 years experience in leading workshops and working with groups and individuals. Jenny Brickett has been involved in courses on healing meditation and natural therapies for many years. She is a teacher of Focusing, recognised by The British Focusing Teachers' Association and the Focusing Institute in New York.
