MINISTRY AND THE MYSTICAL PATH
July 24-26
Registration - 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
Much like the stages of prayer, the interior journey of those in the active apostolate takes place in developmental stages. A moment of grace comes when ministers finally understand that they share not only in Jesus' active ministry in Galilee, but also in his paschal ministry in Jerusalem . No one understood this better than St. John of the Cross. In the book, Ministry and the Mystical Path (published by NCEA and to be released in February '09) Barbara Hughes applies insights which the saint detailed in The Ascent of Mount Carmel and The Dark Night to the spiritual journey of those in the active apostolate. During this silent retreat, she will explain how the paths of ministers and contemplatives converge as their spiritual life deepens.
Presenter: Barbara Hughes, M.F.S.
Barbara Hughes has a Master's degree in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University and is a Secular Carmelite. A wife, mother and grandmother, she has worked on the parish and diocesan levels and currently serves as the Bishop's Liaison to the Jewish and Muslim Communities for the Diocese of Richmond.
Fee: $150 (includes a $40 non-refundable deposit)

FINDING A SPIRITUALITY IN THE CHURCH TODAY
August 3-9
Beginning Monday w/Supper at 6:00p.m. (Eastern Time) Concluding the following Sunday with Brunch
This week-long silent retreat will emphasize key ideas and a basic review of daily practices for observing a life-style of healthy spirituality. It is important to think and live as people who seek an understanding of the Christian faith as it continues to evolve through the centuries. Turning back is not the way of Jesus in the Gospel, nor can it be for the active Christian community of today. An opportunity for "refueling" as a contemplative person engaged in the real world can bring a renewed vision of hope.
Presenter: Rev. Frank Muscolino
Fr. Muscolino has been a priest for 41 years in the Diocese of Birmingham, Alabama. He received his Theology degree from the University of San Francisco and is also certified in Bowen Family Systems Theory and Therapy from the Georgetwon Family Center. He offers spiritual direction and counseling as well as gives retreats to priests, religious and laity in various dioceses.
Fee: $330 (includes a $60 non-refundable deposit)
