Francis of Assisi chose a small place for prayer which came to be called PORTIUNCULA or Small Portion. The PORTIUNCULA Center for Prayer fosters experiences that encourage the integration of body, mind, and spirit. We hereby share in Francis' vision of assisting in the renewal of all God's people.

Nestled in the lovely wooded 50-acre campus of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, the Portiuncula provides a peaceful environment.
Open, grassy knolls, wooded hiking trails and a small creek invite our guests to enter the solitude for study, prayer, and rest.

- January 22-23 Overnight Retreat “Letting Our Souls Catch Up”
Our lives are filled with twenty-four hour news, ever present to-do lists and never ending obligations. Perhaps we might even begin to question if this is how life is really meant to be lived? Can we possibly even imagine what it might be like to live differently? To live richly and deeply? Please join with us in taking a deep breath and allowing our souls to catch up with us! We will spend time being present to the extravagant riches and deep beauty that is always present. To live richly does not require money but it does require that we show up and pay attention. Using the techniques of mindful awareness that the whole universe is ultimately revealed in the simplest of flowers, the exquisite note of birdsong, the gentlest of snowfalls and the harshest of northerly winds.
Please join us for an overnight of beauty, wonder, and miracles!
Cost: $125 with overnight. $75 commuters

- March 5-6. Workshop/Retreat with Michael Morwood “Jesus, Easter and Pentecost in a New Universe Story.”
Traditional Christian understanding of Jesus, Easter and Pentecost is articulated in a dualistic worldview which has a flat earth as the center of creation, an overseeing deity “sending” his son "down” from heaven, the return of the son to heaven and the descent of God’s Spirit upon one group of people who then claimed to have access to God’s dwelling place in heaven.
How might we understand and appreciate anew Jesus, Easter and Pentecost if we focus on a universe permeated with the Divine Presence and honor Jesus as the revealer of that Presence always with us - in our living and dying, in our prayer and worship, and in our bonding with all people and with all that exists? As a participant your faith will be deepened and renewed as never before and your personal celebration of Easter will be enriched this year and in every year to come.
Cost: $125 overnight. $75 commuter.

To realize our deepest longing, we need to learn to use the knowledge and capacities of the mind consciously and carefully. This seminar is all about not getting limited by the logical, rational approach of the mind. When continuing to be in touch with inner silence and the heart, finding fulfillment becomes possible, loving life becomes possible.
