Meditation Retreat with Bhashkar Perinchery in Michigan

Ask the heart where to go, ask the mind how to get there

Inner Metamorphosis University
1418 W. Howard St. at Sheridan Ave.
Chicago, IL 60626

To realize our deepest longing, we need to learn to use the knowledge and capacities of the mind consciously and carefully. This seminar is all about not getting limited by the logical, rational approach of the mind. When continuing to be in touch with inner silence and the heart, finding fulfillment becomes possible, loving life becomes possible.

Retreat leader: Bhashkar Perinchery

The I.M.U. (Inner Metamorphosis University) was initiated in 2005 by the mystic Bhashkar Perinchery.

He is known among his friends as FIL (Friend of Inner Light).

Born in India in an atmosphere of a spiritually rich, culturally diverse and colorful background, Bhashkar Perinchery traveled extensively in connection with his work and on his own initiative, experiencing and practicing various forms of spiritual and mystical teachings. He came in contact with innumerable mystics, masters and religious leaders of diverse approaches. This period had a profound impact on his life.

Bhashkar Perinchery has been teaching the art of inner growth and the 'flowering' of the human potential for over 25 years, giving individual counseling, leading seminars and trainings, and lecturing in Universities and symposiums all over the world. He lives in Germany where, for the past 15 years, he has been leading the "Universal and Multiversal Academy", which represents the unity and wholeness as well as the complexity and multidimensionality of the human being.

Bhashkar attempts to create spaces, which allow us to inquire, to experience and to discover the different dimensions of our reality.

In 1997, he was invited to come to the US. He has lectured at Universities and various institutes around the country. In 1998, he came to lead events and talks during the Martin Luther King-Mahatma Gandhi-Peace Celebrations. During the past few years Bhashkar has been offering various events in and around Chicago.

His publications and articles explore world peace, ecological balance and reclaiming one's divinity, or understanding oneself more deeply, with an emphasis on "Individual Initiative". His understanding of the essential factors prevailing in all moments of fulfillment in every area of life, as well as in all mystical, religious and spiritual teachings is expressed in his book "The Secret of Ecstatic Living". One of his most recent publications "The Source of Joy Within", contains twelve sets of meaningful reminders; practical methods that can be applied in everyday life situations, a gentle, joyful, and easygoing approach to self-growth and awareness.

Icon Writing Retreat
Icons are written, not painted. They are believed to embody the Word, God, in physical form. Icons act as physical windows into Heaven and icon writing is a direct experience of the Divine.

Hildegard von Bingen
Hildegard (1098-1179) was a medieval woman mystic: a German abbess, poet and composer, who also wrote works on medicine and natural history. Her story is an inspirational account of an irrepressible spirit and vibrant intellect that overcame social, physical, cultural and gender barriers to achieve transcendence. Hildegard offers a timeless wisdom for all spiritual seekers.

Iconographer: Donna Rathert
This unique double-weekend prayer experience will be offered at The Well in October, 2008
Fri., Oct. 10 (7pm - 9 pm), Sat. Oct. 11(9 am – 9 pm), and Sun, Oct. 12 (9am – 1 pm)
and Fri., Oct.17 (7pm - 9 pm), Sat., Oct. 18 (9 am – 9 pm), Sun., Oct.19 (9am – 1 pm)

Cost: $250 for commuters; $375 for overnighters.
Price includes supplies, meals and refreshments.]

This icon writing retreat is appropriate for those new to this form of expression as well as those who have previously written icons. Artists and non-artists can engage in this meditative process and leave with a completed piece, ready to display. Prayer and reflection place the participant in a receptive frame of mind, open to explore a place beyond words through the beauty of the Christian symbolism of an icon. The remarkable spirit of Hildegard von Bingen has been selected for this retreat.
