Retreats for 2008

  • October7-9, 2008 Fr. Vincent Tobin, OSB (midweek retreat)
Made for Happiness: God’s Logic in the Beatitudes. -What is the happy life and how can we find it? By becoming poor in spirit, totally dependent on the kindness of God. (Fee $225 single, $375 double).

  • October 10-12, 2008 Br. Thomas Gricoski, OSB
Praying with Icons - Icons are an integral part of Eastern Christian spirituality, yet our usual conceptions of art make it difficult to appreciate the depth of icons. We will explore icons together from our Western viewpoint to begin to see their hidden beauty as windows into heaven. We will also visit our Byzantine chapel to see icons in their proper setting. (Fee $225 single, $375 double).

  • November 28-30, 2008 Fr. Noël Mueller, OSB
Raving over Raphael - Following a series of artist retreats on Van Gogh, Cezanne and Fra Angelico, this retreat will explore the spirituality expressed in the impressive works of Renaissance artist Raphael Santi. Having introduced Raphael’s blessed life from Tuscany to Rome, the retreat will feature videos to show his works and hopefully inspire the viewers. A Roman dinner will allow us to celebrate this most graceful of artists. (Fee $225 single, $375 double).

  • December 19-21, 2008 Br. Christian Raab, OSB
A Monastic Christmas - In a commercially saturated world, it can feel like Christmas has lost its meaning. During our days together, we will take a break from the madness and prepare for Christmas by exploring seasonal meditations of great monastic figures such as St. Augustine and St. Bernard. Our goal is to appropriate a more contemplative attitude to this wonderful festal season, a spirit that retreatants can take back with them to the marketplace. (Fee $225 single, $375 double).
