Living Mindfully: The Medicine of Deep Listening
Reflection, Wellness, Prayer
Our spiritual life is a great treasure needing constant renewal and care. We cannot minister to others without replenishing our own spirits. This silent retreat is an invitation to honor your soul's need for reflection, to pause for the medicine of deep listening. You will be reminded of God's breathing in you and spend time in the ground of your own being. Sister Macrina will explore with you a way of being attentive to the hours of the day, and search for ways to live reflectively right in the midst of the busyness of daily life. Themes will be drawn from her latest book, "Seven Sacred Pauses". The moving story of the Emmaus Journey (Luke 24: 13-32) will be our scripture companion for the retreat. Sessions will include some conference time, quiet time for reflection, faith sharing and prayer.
Leader: Macrina Wiederkehr, OSB
Macrina is a Benedictine Sister from St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Monastic spirituality has had a great influence in her writing and retreat ministry.
In her retreats she attempts to lead seekers on a contemplative path away from wordiness, into the space between the words where silence and solitude make their home. She loves to write and has authored seven books: "Seasons of Your Heart",
"A Tree Full of Angels", "The Song of the Seed", "Gold in Your Memories", "Behold Your Life", "The Circle of Life", coauthored with Joyce Rupp, and her most recent publication, "Seven Sacred Pauses".
