Many people sense that they want and “are” something more than the busyness of each day. They sense a need to step away from the pace of life and nurture their soul.

To nurture one’s soul is to become more aware of God and to respond to that awareness with mindfulness and attention. It is opening oneself to His love and peace, and finding rest. Wisdom says time “away” is needed. Jesus emphasized this need when He said to His disciples, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.”

Canterbury Retreat House provides a space for you to step away, to slow down, and to reacquaint yourself with God’s voice and heart.

Seeing Who You Really Are Workshop

with Richard Lang

headexchange@gn.apc.org

The regular fee is £60 ($120).
Registration

The Headless Way offers you a practical, user-friendly way to see Who you really are. This method was developed by the philosopher Douglas Harding. At the heart of this approach are the Experiments - awareness exercises that guide your attention directly to your deepest identity. Visit our web site for more information.

Seeing Who You Really Are

Who are you really? Richard Lang will guide you through experiments invented by the philosopher Douglas Harding. These experiments test an amazing claim about you - at centre you are absolutely different from what you appear to be from a distance. From several metres you are human, but at centre you are not – you are Awake No-thing that is capacity for everything. Put in more traditional language, in appearance you are human but in reality you are divine. Your True Identity is God, Buddha-Nature, the One Self – choose your name! Richard will not ask you to believe this – he will invite you actually to look into your centre for yourself to see if this claim about you is true. And he will show you how to look into your centre so that you can, during this workshop, see your True Nature. This discovery can change your life. When you see Who you really are, you become one with the Source of all things. What greater discovery is there than this?

Richard Lang first discovered Who he really is when he attended a workshop with Douglas Harding in 1970. Since then he has devoted his life both to staying awake to his True Nature and to sharing Harding’s experiments that make so available this profoundest of discoveries. He has two books published - Seeing Who You Really Are and Open To The Source. He has written and compiled the content for the website www.headless.org He lives in London, co-ordinating the Shollond Trust – the UK charity set up to share this work. He also works as a psychotherapist, and teaches Tai Chi and Five Rhythms Dance.

LIVING LIFE FULLY AS A SPIRITUAL MAN IN TODAY’S WORLD

In our Western culture, and even in our religious traditions, we as men have few guides to lead us deeply into the full male journey. There are almost no mentors who have been there themselves and returned to guide us through. Yet in today’s economic, ecological, and cultural crises, our society cannot successfully transition if men do not develop a healthy male spirituality, learn how to integrate both masculine and feminine principles into their lives, and have this new perspective be accepted by the culture.

In this experiential and discussion-based workshop, we will work with Richard Rohr’s book, From Wild Men to Wise Men, and portions of Susan Trout’s new book, The Clarion Call: Leadership and Group Life in the Aquarian Era, to understand and reclaim the spiritual initiation of men, and to understand and practice the synthesis of healthy masculine and feminine energies.

Cost: $120 ($105 if registered and full payment received by June 17)

Find God in all things...
June 22-27 – Richmond Hill, Richmond VA

Pat is a certified spiritual director and retreat leader who marvels at the profound love our God has for each of Her/His creations. He is a graduate of the Ignatian Spirituality Institute at John Carroll University and is completing his MA in Pastoral Ministry at Boston College in 2008. He is directing retreats focused on discernment this summer:

Changing jobs? Moving? Graduating? Turning 30, 40, 50 or 60? Retiring? Feeling called to action, but not sure where to go? We all face many times of transition in life. They are often bewildering.

This might be the time that you will benefit from a discernment retreat. You may not come away from the retreat with a clear answer to your dilemma, but you will leave it confident in the love and guidance of the Holy Spirit and with a clearer sense of the next steps you need to take.

Discernment is a gift of wisdom that has been passed down by the holy women and men who came before us. Practicing discernment helps us open our hearts to watch and listen for the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

A Directed Retreat provides an ideal setting for discernment. It gives us the time to find the quiet places of our heart. Pat will serve as a director on individually directed retreats at four retreat houses around the country this summer.
