My name is Margot Van Sluytman and I am a poet, instructor, publisher of both poetry and prose, I wish to introduce myself and invite you to participate or to offer my workshops at your centres. And to contemplate sharing information about our press with those who may have interest. We specialize in self publishing for the yet to be known writers.
I wish to invite you to attend one of the workshops on writing and healing as a way to unlock your own truths and soul.
The courses, which I have given in continuing education centres, spirituality centres, universities, colleges, and continue to offer online, focus on writing as both art and healing.
The mantra which I use to inspire others to write is ‘think by feeling’. I use specific pieces of writing, most often my poetry and prose poetry, for it is intense language, packed with imagery and metaphor, which inspires participants to allow their own voices to speak.
I have been published in magazines and eZines across Canada, the US, and South America, as well as having been invited to read and guest lecture at colleges in Canada and the US. I publish, through my small poetry press, the work of individuals whose work speak from soul, wisdom, passion, and intellect. On www.Palabras-Press.com you can see the work I have published, including books by Professor Kelly Young, PhD, Trent University, and Professor Brenda Peddigrew, PhD, Adjunct Professor at The University of Alberta, and several other kindred and gifted writers.
Because of my kindred dance with poetry and palabras/words, I am able to facilitate and teach others to find their openings within themselves. To find and use their words to reach their own soul because that is where there own stunning creations are. It is wonderful to inspire my students to bring forth there creativity. In so doing we inspire one another. Learners participate in the act of creating, of shaping, and of acknowledging art, of fostering healing.
Besides my own education, BA in Philosophy, Diploma in Publishing and Design, and my belief that words save and honour life, my work takes as it salient starting point the murder of my father in Canada, nine years after our family moved from South America, choosing Canada as a place of freedom, safety, and solace. My process with grief, with facing my own faith and meanings has opened my capacity to understand and share with others.
As a Member of the National Association for Poetry Therapy, who is training for my Certificate in Poetry Therapy, and an experienced poet, writer, and speaker, I offer others techniques to write their truths, to embrace the paradoxes of being alive, and to live rich and rewarding lives.
I warmly invite you to read the courses and workshops that I have to offer on my www.MargotVanSluytman.com web site.
