Sara Firman-Pitt (Sulis)
Leader Credentials: Sara was born in Britain, grew up in Kenya, Fiji and Brazil and had the fortune to travel widely. Her scientific training (B.Sc. Genetics; M.Phil. Plant Breeding) led her into scientific publishing. A sabbatical at Schumacher College (international center for ecological and spiritual studies in Devon, UK), marked a turning point.
She went on to train in a variety of massage and movement disciplines and to explore mind-body integration. Her search culminated in aquatic bodywork and the development with her husband of a practice they call WaterJourneys. In 2002, they established their 'vision spa retreat', Aquaest, in the watery and still wild Missouri Ozarks.
Water is as a sensitive indicator of the health of our planet and ourselves. Like a living organism, water has an ability to receive, store and transmit information that depends on rhythm, movement and temperature. It affects and is affected by everything in its environment in ways we are only just beginning to appreciate. At Aquaest, water takes center stage both for therapy and contemplation.
Sara has written many articles on water and healing and is available for presentations on this subject. At Aquaest, she and her husband offer seasonal and themed retreats providing a variety of experiences and explorations of water. These include: cleansing, dreamwork, mythology, play, creativity, environment. For more details on these, please contact us.
